“As a double degree student at Polytechnique Montreal, I am sending you this letter to apply for the position of administrator in the Association des Etudiants des Cycles Supérieurs de Polytechnique.
During my studies in engineering school in France, I always had at heart to invest myself for the student life of my school. For this reason, I have been involved in various teams to organize several activities and events. I had the opportunity to co-organize as vice-president a charity concert in favor of underprivileged children, and as manager of two artistic clubs focused on theater and improvisation theater, thanks to which I was able to manage the setting up of shows. Finally, I had the opportunity to help the realization of a national event of more than 9000 visitors and a budget of 160 000€ around the Japanese culture: Anim’Est. Within this association, I was able to help the organization of a part of this convention and I could learn and discover all the aspects of an associative group, even the most complex of them. I was able to develop my team spirit and my sense of responsibility while being surrounded by people with the same desires as mine: to lead a project that we all care about from beginning to end. The Association des Etudiants des Cycles Supérieurs de Polytechnique (AECSP) is a new way for me to get involved in student life in order to make it more dynamic and to help as many people as possible benefit from it.
With the few experiences I have had during my involvement in the association, I am aware that organizing such a collective can be a particularly difficult task. However, wishing to learn more about it, I would love to be part of the decision makers of the association as a type A administrator.
Since my arrival at Polytechnique, I have already been able to participate as a volunteer in the organization of a few events such as the 5@8 on Tuesday, September 6 and the back-to-school party on September 9. I have already had a very positive experience, but I would like to have more responsibilities within the AECSP. This is why, with this type A administrator position, I will be able to go further in the organization and management of this association for which I have a deep respect.
Furthermore, being able to hold a decision-making role in this collective is also a new challenge for me in terms of managing a responsible group of more than 2600 students but also an opportunity to help the AECSP at a higher level than just a volunteer.
Finally, the role of administrator within the association is a chance for me to discover in more details how the association works in order to better understand the stakes to help it in its future projects.”
