“Hi everyone! My name is Imane Chafi, I’m a second year doctorate student in computer engineering, and I am running for the position of Communications Coordinator! Promoting the arts in engineering and engaging with students on how to make their university experience more enjoyable by providing resources to cultivate the artistic side of our degree is something that I am very passionate about, which is why I’ve been heavily involved as the vp communications of the engineering society at McGill during my engineering degree. At Polytechnique, I have participated actively in Poly-fi as an animator to showcase the creative side of science to a younger audience, which helped me understand that engineering is actually an imaginative and inspired field filled with artistry.
Having been editor-in-chief and publications director of a student paper in my undergrad, I was able to learn and engage with student-led activities related to promoting creative writing and the communications sphere. I have a lot of ideas to help make the communications portfolio of the A.É.C.S.P more varied and structured, especially in terms of the services we can offer. I would like to bring back the graduate student-led journal to showcase research projects and opportunities, improve the workflow of the newsletter and related informatics within the association, and create student-led artistic endeavours such as painting nights and art showcases. I’m very excited to learn more and improve the communications portfolio, and if you have any questions or ideas, feel free to send me a message at
imane.chafi@polymtl.ca It’s very nice to meet you!
